You will play a crucial role in shaping our technology strategy, mentoring engineers, and driving the success of our automated test pipelines.
Day in the Life
- Inspire and Lead: Motivate a team of 8-12 engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Drive performance and ensure the delivery of high-quality automated test solutions.
- Talent Management: Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Cultivate strong working relationships and build a team capable of executing our technology strategy and delivering exceptional value.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement near and long-term technology strategies. Plan for system integration, upgrades, and alignment to optimize company value.
- Team Development: Coach and guide engineers through challenges and career growth. Remove roadblocks and address conflicts to ensure team success.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with peers to solve complex problems and achieve department-wide objectives. Collaborate with product management and technology teams to balance immediate and future needs.
- Problem-Solving: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and guide your team toward effective solutions.
- Promote Best Practices: Instill essential software engineering practices and promote a proactive, results-focused culture. Encourage innovation and intelligent risk-taking.
- Metrics and Milestones: Track, analyze, and act upon key metrics to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
- Cross-Team Initiatives: Assist in process improvement and other cross-team initiatives as part of the Engineering Leadership team.
Who You Are
- Experienced Leader: 3+ years managing engineering teams and 5+ years in software engineering, particularly with web and API applications in enterprise SaaS.
- Agile Expertise: Proven track record in organizing agile software teams to deliver high-quality software.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated coding and design skills in modern programming languages and tools such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Cypress, Selenium, JMeter, Load Runner, and BlazeMeter.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges and guide teams to effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken communication abilities, with experience in managing asynchronous communication across globally distributed teams.
- Remote Work Experience: Comfortable and experienced working remotely.

Educational/Certification Requirements

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Degreed is a remote-first company, however our roles are open to in-office or hybrid if you live in a city with a physical office location. This role has the opportunity to operate 100% virtually from your home office. We primarily collaborate with our US and International colleagues through virtual meetings (Zoom), email, and Slack. In this role, you will be required to operate a laptop computer, computer software platforms, and other office productivity machinery as necessary. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, and must be able to observe and interpret written and/or verbal communication.
